Ah St Valentine's Day, some might say an over-commercialised day to get you to buy red roses, champagne and chocolates.
But a little bit of love and romance is so good for the soul, and doesn't have to be a big or expensive show!
There are so many cheap decor items that you can buy or make that add a little bit of happiness and charm to your home and to the day.
We bought this sweet set of LOVE with cherubs at a garage sale (car boot or yard sale to others!) a few years ago and it sits beautifully on our bookcase in the lounge room.
We bought this rustic metal heart at Tesselaar Tulip Farm last year for $9 and it hangs on a door handle, spreading a bit of country charm.
Our version of a frequent pin is a banner made from playing cards - all hearts - hole punched and strung together with red ribbon.
And flowers you ask??? well a week before St Valentine's Day we went shopping and bought 3 pots of colour (I think they are petunias) $2 each and planted them in a Jamie Durie Wall Planter that we bought quite a few years ago at BigW (for about $10 I think) at the front door. A great splash of colour.
So our ideas for St Valentine's Day maybe a bit cheap but certainly cheerful and we had a wonderful day.
